Magic Theatre Halloween

Once again, we were off to Magic Theatre. This time around it was the halloween one. We’d heard previously that this one was the busiest event of the Magic Theatre’s calendar, so I resolved to get myself ready nice and early. Once again though, we failed to get ready particularly quickly, although we weren’t too late in the end.

Upon arrival, we found Joanne in a nearby bar, and went and said hello, and sat outside for a quick drink, and then walked down to the Rivoli. The Rivoli ballroom, for anyone that doesn’t know, is a fantastic 1950s ballroom which hasn’t yet been turned into a block of luxury flats! We went in, looked for somewhere to sit, which was quite tricky, as the venue was already reasonably busy. What I wasn’t prepared for was quite how busy it would get. By the end of the night, it was heaving.

The acts were of a high quality as usual, and there was a good mix of styles ranging from glam to fetish to fancy dress. On this occasion, I’d gone in a little black dress, some deep lace top stockings, and a sussie belt which didn’t actually hold them up as well as I thought it would because of weight loss.

Compared to last time, I had less issues with my shoes – previous events I’ve had issues with shoes which have been a little too large. This time, they were a new pair that were a good fit, but other than the obligatory blistering, but now I know where these try to blister, I can pre-empt in future. It was so busy, that someone managed to step on my blister of all places, which pretty much gave me the excuse I needed to not dance.

All in all, it was an enjoyable evening nonetheless. I was happy with the way the dress looked on me, but less happy with the falling stockings – whilst they’re deep, they’re not knee-highs!

As always though, I need to learn to pose for other people’s photos. I nearly always look really gormless in photos still, which is really bad for a photographer.
